Specification: The unique and pure nature, crystal
clear waters and the fresh air of Mongolia attracts people who love nature and trekking.
Our tour follows a route through the Gobi Desert in
the south to the ancient capital Kharkhorin /Erdenezuu temple/ in central Mongolia.
The trekking area is through one of the last untouched and uninhabited areas of wilderness in Mongolia.
There are also rare animals and wild herbs and
plants along this route.
Total distance: 2400kms by minivan
Day-1 We'll start with a full day trip to the Baga
Gazriin Chuluu Ruins(1768 m from sea level). (255kms). On the way we'll stop
for lunch at Zorgol Khairkhan Mountain. At these ruins there are mineral water
springs and beautiful rocky hills a covered with lush vegetation. We'll spend
the night in tents.
Day-2 We'll take a full day trip driving to Yoliin
Am in the middle of the Gobi desert National Park which is a strictly protected
area, covering 70 sq.kms. On the way we'll stop for lunch at a vast steppe. The
mountains there are the highest in the Gobi Desert and the rocky scenery is fascinating,
especially until mid July while the ice gorge remains frozen. We'll walk 3 kms
through a narrow valley, then 3 kms back to the minivan. We'll stay at tourist
ger camp (yurt).
Day-3 We'll drive to the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes(195kms)
after lunch time. The Khongoryn Els are some of the largest and most spectacular
sand dunes in Mongolia. We'll see gorgeous views, huge sand dunes and a cold
water spring with a stream that leads in to two small ponds. We'll then spend the
night in a nomadic family's ger.
Day-4 We'll hike to the top of the biggest sand
dunes. Also, if you wish, you may walk alongside the river for about 10 kms.
We can also arrange a camel riding trip on the dunes. We'll stay at a tourist ger camp.
Day-5 We'll drive to Bayan-Zag(150kms).In Bayan-Zag,
we will spend the night in gers provided by a local family. Bayan-Zag which means "rich in Saxaul Shrubs" is more commonly known as the "Flaming
Cliffs", famous for the discovery of dinosaur fossils.
Day-6 We'll drive to the Ongyn Hiid ruins of temple, where
we spend the night in tourist ger camp. The Ongyn Hiid was the biggest temple
in Mongolia.
Day-7 Drive to the Ulaan Tsutgalan, which means the highest
waterfall in Mongolia. Spend the night in a nomadic family's ger.
Day-8 We'll drive to Tovkhon temple on top of a
mountain, where the first Mongolian Bogd lived. This place is hard to
reach, but it pays off due to the amazing variety of flowers. We'll spend
a night in tents.
Day-9 We'll do a full day driving trip to Chuluutyn canyon
(about 10 kms longer). On the way we'll stop in Tsetserleg (capital
of Arkhangai province) for the shopping. We'll spend the night in the tent.
Day-10 We'll Drive to Great White lake and Khorge
Volcano. We'll spend a night in tourist ger camp. Khorgo Volcano is
located in the northern part of the Khangai mountain range.
Day-11 We'll do a full day hike from the lake to the
"Khorgo" Volcano and climb to the top of the volcano, where we'll see stunning views.
If climbing isn't your thing, horseriding trips in the region around the
volcano can be easily arranged. We'll stay at same tourist ger camp.
Day-12 We'll drive to Taikhar rock and Tsenher
hot springs. We'll spend the night at a tourist ger camp and bathe in the hot springs.
Day-13 We'll drive to the Erdenezuu (ancient capital of
Mongolia). We'll stay at a tourist ger camp. On the following day we'll visit
the Erdenezuu temple and its museum.
Day-14 Back to Ulaanbaatar.
Except for the souvenirs that you might buy everything else
will be included in the tour price such as accommodation in Ulaanbaatar or duration
of trip, 3 meals a day, national park entrance fees, camel riding ect...
N.B. None of these itineraries include the time spent in Ulaanbaatar.
