Specification: The unique and pure nature, crystal
clear waters and the fresh air of Mongolia attracts people who love nature and trekking.
Our trekking tour follows a route through the Gobi Desert in
the south to the ancient capital Kharkhorin /Erdenezuu temple/ in central Mongolia.
The trekking area is through on of the last untouched areas of wilderness in Mongolia:
it is almost uninhabited. Also, there are rare animals and wild herbs and
plants along this route.
Total distance: 1790 kms by minivan.
Day-1 We'll start with a full day trip to the Baga
Gazariin Chuluu Ruins(1768 m from sea level) (255kms). On the way we'll stop
for a lunch at Zorgol Khairkhan Mountain. At these ruins there are mineral water springs and beautiful rocky hills a covered with trees. We'll spend the night in tents.
Day-2 We'll do a full day trip driving to Dalanzadgad
( capital city of South Gobi ) and we'll stay at a tourist gercamp.
Day-3 We'll drive to Yoliin Am in the middle of the Gobi
desert National Park which is a strictly protected area, covering 70 sq.kms. The
mountains there are the highest in the Gobi Desert and the rocky scenery is awe-inspiring
, especially until mid July when the ice gorge is frozen. We'll walk 3 kms through
a narrow valley, then 3 kms back to the minivan. After lunch we'll drive to
the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes(195kms) after lunch time. The Khongoryn Els are some
of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. We'll see marvelous
views, incredible sand dunes and a cold water spring with a river that leads into
two small ponds. We'll then spend the night in a nomadic family's gers.
Day-4 We'll climb and hike to the top of the biggest
sand dunes. Also, if you wish, you may walk alongside the river for about
10 kms. We can arrange a camel riding trip on the dunes. We'll stay at tourist
ger camp.
Day-5 We'll drive to Bayan-Zag(150kms). Bayan-Zag
wich means "rich in Saxaul Shrubs" is more commonly known as the "Flamming Cliffs"
of Bayan-Zag, famous for the discovery of dinosaur fossils. We'll arrive by
afternoon and then we'll have a lunch. After lunch we'll walk around the area.
We'll stay at Gers which provides by local family.
Day-6 We'll drive to the Ongyn hiid temple ruins,
where we'll spend the night in a tourist ger camp. The Ongyn hiid used to be
the biggest temple in Mongolia.
Day-7 We'll drive to the Erdenezuu (ancient capital of
Mongolia) and will spend the night in the tourist ger camp. On the following
day we'll visit the Erdenezuu temple museum and temple.
Day-8 Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. On the way
we'll stop for a lunch.
Except for the souvenirs that you might buy, everything else
will be included in the tour price such as accommodation in Ulaanbaatar or duration
of trip, 3 meals a day, national park entrance fees, camel riding ect...
N.B. None of these itineraries include the time spent in Ulaanbaatar.
